Spanish-based producers Mar and Cel join forces as Mar y Cel for their debut single, ‘Thrill Me’. Out now via 1980 Recordings, the release reimagines Junior Jack’s 2002 house classic with a new studio take.
The project began in Ibiza, where the two producers first met at the Mar y Cel Café in Figueretas. The venue, a regular meeting point for musicians living on the island year-round, became the setting where the pair bonded over shared musical influences and club records.
During one of these conversations, the topic turned to Junior Jack’s ‘Thrill Me’. The idea of revisiting the track sparked a studio session, where Mar and Cel began shaping their own interpretation. The result is a groove-driven update built around a steady 121 BPM pulse, layered with crisp hi-hats, rising synths, and the recognizable hook from the original record.
Working between Barcelona and Ibiza, the duo developed the track by passing ideas back and forth until the arrangement reached its final form. Their collaboration reflects a shared background in house music and a long history of production work across both underground and chart-focused releases.
Individually, the two producers have released music on labels including Universal Music, Sirup, NewStateMusic, Slackers 85, Pets Recordings, Moody Recordings, and Pacha Recordings. Their work has received support from artists such as Pete Tong, Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, Catz N Dogz, Annie Mac, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Roger Sanchez, and Danny Howard.
