Juno Download shuts down after two decades

The platform has directed users to alternative download webstores.

Juno Download has officially closed its digital storefront, ending a 20-year run as one of the electronic music industry’s primary digital download platforms.

The company confirmed the closure via a statement on its website, marking the conclusion of its operations, “it’s been our privilege to share some of the most incredible music from the most amazing artists, but we’re sorry to say, that the time has come to say goodbye.”

Customers can still log in to their accounts to access and retrieve their previous purchases. Additionally, the platform’s Instagram account has been removed.

The store launched in 2006 as a digital extension of the physical music retailer Juno Records. It grew to become a major hub for DJs and dance music collectors during the peak of the digital download era before being sold to a United States-based company in 2013.

Company representatives noted that the decision reflects a broader industry shift, as streaming models and direct-to-fan platforms like Bandcamp have altered how consumers purchase music.

The website statement redirected its user base to alternative digital retailers Beatport and Traxsource.
