Panøram: Finding a broader perspective

Panøram is the latest project from Spanish artist Víctor, who stepped back from previous ventures to refine a new creative identity rooted in openness, musical curiosity, and a forward-looking approach to electronic music.

Blending classic influences with contemporary production techniques, the project reflects a broad sonic perspective that moves comfortably across genres while remaining focused on the dancefloor.

Now, the artist continues that journey with the release of his new EP, ‘Sunward’, on his own Visions of Paraiso imprint, while also joining the EG Spotlight series with an exclusive mix that captures the energy and emotion he seeks to create behind the decks.

In this conversation, Panøram discusses the creative process behind ‘Sunward’, launching Visions of Paraiso, finding freedom through reinvention, and his ambitions for the years ahead.

EG: Hi Victor, welcome to Electronic Groove. It’s a pleasure to have you with us. How have you been lately?

Panøram: Hi, it’s a pleasure. I’m good, enjoying the beginning of summer and feeling a bit more relaxed now. I’ve been very busy during the last two months, working on the second release, ‘Sunward’. At the same time, I played a live DJ set in a special secret location and have been preparing my EG Spotlight set.

With the EP, it has been a long journey to get everything to the point where I wanted it to be, but I’m really happy with the final result. I couldn’t ask for more; luckily, the plan is going even better than I imagined.

EG: First of all, thank you for your contribution to our EG Spotlight Mix Series. What can followers of the series and your fans expect to find in this one? Is there a concept running through the set? How do you usually approach these mixes?

Panøram: It’s also a pleasure to collaborate with EG, and I really enjoyed preparing this set. Sometimes I understand a house mix as something more suited for listening, but this time, honestly, while I was getting started and finding my groove, I felt the set as if I were playing in a club. I felt that energy in the moment, and I tried to capture and summarize in one hour those special moments that I normally try to create on a dancefloor.

EG: By the way, congratulations on the release of your new EP, ‘Sunward’! You must be excited to have this one out. What has the initial reception been like so far?

Panøram: Thank you! Yes, I’m really happy with all the feedback. It’s curious because every person has a different favourite track, and I love that the EP can connect with different electronic music scenes.

EG: What’s ‘Sunward’ all about, musically speaking? Is there an emotional trigger behind these cuts?

Panøram: Yes, it’s a curious story. I had another EP ready for VOP002 that I produced last year, but in the end, I decided to change it and create another one that I could truly feel connected to at the moment it was going to be released.

The creative process was special because I started producing the track in my home studio in Ibiza. I remember one very cloudy week on the island, and then suddenly the sun came back. At that exact moment, I felt inspired to play the pad chords of the Dub Mix, and from there I worked on the melody of the main track, which eventually became an immersive solar journey during the drop.

That’s why I called the tracks ‘Sunward’.Moonrave’ was produced at night, during a long creative after-hours journey.

EG: There’s a very futuristic quality to the record as a whole. Is this a conscious imprint of your project as Panøram, or more of a by-product of your views and connection to electronic dance music?

Panøram: I always try to be honest with my feelings and create music without thinking whether it sounds more modern or more classic. I’m coming from the old school, but at the same time, I love evolving my sound and trying to offer something different and unique.

“Music is subjective, so it’s impossible to make everyone happy. I think you have to follow your own path in order to create beautiful things”

EG: ‘Panøram’ is a relatively new project for you after taking a step back. How would you define the project, and what are you looking for as Panøram?

Panøram: I was looking for an alias that could define me well as an artist, and eventually I found Panøram. It means a panoramic view, a wide perspective of music, and I think that defines my sound very well. I have always had a broad vision, and I love integrating different elements from different genres into my sets and tracks.

The main intention with Panøram is to connect with people around the globe through music while creating beautiful moments on the dancefloor or wherever people can listen to it. Moments when people can forget their daily problems and experience a positive vision of the future.

EG: ‘Sunward’ is out via your own Visions of Paraiso label. What can we expect from the label in the coming months? Is there anything you can anticipate for us on that front?

Panøram: The upcoming news with Visions of Paraiso is that we will release the ‘Sunward’ EP on vinyl with a special remix next August. VOP003 will probably arrive in September, and we are also preparing our first intimate event, along with more surprises.

EG: Reinvention can be exciting, but it also comes with uncertainty. As you move into this next phase, what aspects of your music are you most eager to explore without the expectations that naturally accumulate around a long-running alias?

Panøram: I also felt the freedom to create in my past projects, and I always try to forget about expectations and be honest with my feelings and with what I want to do. If you focus too much on other people’s expectations, it’s difficult to create something truly personal. Music is subjective, so it’s impossible to make everyone happy. I think you have to follow your own path in order to create beautiful things.

EG: Looking ahead, what would you like the next few years of the Panøram project to look like, both creatively and personally?

Panøram: Over the next few years, the goal is to consolidate both Panøram and the Visions of Paraiso label as respected names within the electronic music scene.

Personally, I hope to keep an open mind, continue learning more about music production and the music industry, and always keep improving. Whenever I can, I also want to help other artists grow and achieve their goals.

“I always try to be honest with my feelings and create music without thinking whether it sounds more modern or more classic”

EG: Thank you so much for your time. We wish you all the best with the ‘Sunward’ EP and everything ahead. Take care!

Panøram: Thank you so much for the interview. It was a pleasure, and thank you as well for all the work you’re doing with EG and the electronic music scene. See you around!
