Berghain will become a temporary art gallery

The exhibitions will start in September.

Berghain, which has been shut since early March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be handed over to famed local art collectors Christian and Karen Boros, who alongside Juliet Kothe, the director of the Boros Foundation, will curate an exhibition by the name of ‘Studio Berlin’, opening its doors on September 9th.

The work of 85 artists who live and work in Berlin will be on display for this exhibition. Tacita Dean, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Carsten Nicolai (AKA Alva Noto) are among the said artists. Multiple disciplines will be on display, from painting and sculpture to video and sound installations. As usual, visitors will be banned from filming or taking photos.

Last month, Berghain opened one of its lesser-used spaces, its Halle am Berghain, for a performance of eleven songs by Berlin-based duo tamtam.
