Manchester Camerata will stage two free performances on September 20th.

Brian Eno’s ‘Ambient 1: Music for Airports’ will be performed live at Manchester Airport on September 20th, 2026, by six musicians from Manchester Camerata.
The ensemble will present the album twice in full, with both performances available free of charge to travelling passengers and a limited number of non-travelling guests.
The event forms part of Here We Are, Manchester Camerata’s series of free and accessible performances taking place across Greater Manchester throughout September. It will mark the first performance of the album at a UK airport since Bang On A Can presented it at Liverpool John Lennon Airport in 2006.
Released in 1979 via E.G. Records and Polydor Records, the album was created through layered tape loops and designed as a sound installation intended to reduce anxiety among air travellers. It was also the first Eno release officially labelled as ambient music.
