Defected Records is set to release ‘House Masters – Marshall Jefferson’ on May 29th, an expansive 40-track anthology celebrating the storied career of house music icon, Marshall Jefferson.

Covering five decades of his career, Jefferson’s anthology is a veritable treasure trove of house music anthems. It features a collection of his most celebrated solo records, influential productions, essential remixes, and sought-after DJ staples that have resonated on dance floors throughout the years.

Speaking on the compilation, Jefferson expressed his pride, “The music on this compilation is some of my best work, and I’m very proud. Hopefully, someone else will enjoy it too. It’s an honor to be a Defected House Master; it’s almost like being in a House Music Hall of Fame; some very talented people have come before me, and I hope I continue their legacy. These are my best songs, and I hope people can not only dance to them but also get inspiration.”

Jefferson’s journey began in the halls of Chicago’s Universal Recording Studios. He soon became a crucial presence in the city’s vibrant 1980s house music scene. The compilation opens with his much-lauded record ‘Move Your Body’, a testament to his enduring influence.

Defected Records CEO, Wez Saunders, lauds Jefferson’s significance in shaping house music. He believes that this compilation is an auditory journey that traces the evolution of house music.

In addition to the album release, Defected Records has teamed up with Pointless Illustrations James for an exclusive t-shirt line, showcasing some of Marshall’s biggest hits.
