DJ Slugo and DJ Thadz, two cornerstones of Chicago’s ghetto house sound, return as Subterranean Playhouse and Clownhouse Muzik unveil the digital edition of ‘Dance Mania Legends’. The joint release highlights a shared mission: preserving the blueprint while keeping it alive on today’s floors.
On Subterranean Playhouse, DJ Slugo delivers a two-track pack made for late hours. ‘How We Do’ locks into a classic jack rhythm, while ‘Last of The Year (Whip That)’ drives forward with sub-bass pressure and whip-crack accents designed for fast blends. Clownhouse Muzik hosts DJ Thadz, who contributes four cuts: the rolling ‘Let Me Squeeze’Em’ alongside three versions of ‘Freak Hoe’—Full, Radio Edit, and Club Dub—built around pounding drums, looping vocals, and raw percussive energy.
The project also opens the vault on vinyl-only material, with earlier contributions from DJ Phats now available digitally for the first time. Rounded out by Slugo and Thadz, the collection traces a line from Dance Mania’s origins to its ongoing influence today.
