“This EG Spotlight mix was taken from a special private rooftop/terrace party in Brooklyn NYC in early June, which carried on for 24+ hours, in which I had the honor of playing numerous extended sets throughout the long hedonistic soiree. This mix was from the early hours of the party when energy levels were high and the weather was picture-perfect. The vibe gradually warms up from deep and dubby minimal house to more energetic house, including some timeless classics as well as contemporary styles. As a veteran of the underground electronic music world, Kev Obrien has been immersed in the industry as a DJ, producer, label owner and manager for the past fifteen years.
Over the years, he has commandeered dancefloors around the U.S., Europe, as well as South Africa, while his productions have been championed by John Digweed, Solomun, Nic Fanciulli, Jamie Jones, and many more.
As an A&R and label manager, he has headed up labels such as Stranjjur, Eyedyllic Music, Superlux Records, Vibe Me To The Moon, and Moteur Ville Musique; collectively working with and releasing music by artists such as Joeski, Delano Smith, Roland Clark, Jay Tripwire, Subb-An, HearThuG, and many more.
In recent years, he has focused mostly on his label management duties, mostly taking a step back from DJ gigs, but still maintains regular mix and podcast output across various genres including deep house, liquid drum and bass, as well as minimal (for which he records under his alter-ego moniker, Vek Neirbo).
