A fundraiser has been launched in support of London-based DJ, label head, and event organizer Chris Stoker, who is currently undergoing treatment for stage three kidney cancer and type one diabetes.

The campaign was shared by Chris’s wife, Sarah, who revealed that he has been “quietly navigating” cancer treatment for the past three years. The recent diabetes diagnosis, a result of the treatment, has added significant complexity and cost to his care.

“He’s dealt with it all incredibly bravely, verging on zen at times,” she wrote.Chris isn’t someone who finds it easy to ask for assistance, but in all honesty, it’s got to the point where he really needs it, so we’re doing it for him.”

The fundraiser aims to help cover advanced diagnostics, specialist consultations, nutritional support, and other essentials not funded by the NHS. Sarah noted that monthly costs currently range from £300 to £1,200, much of it coming from personal savings.

“It’s this combination – cancer and now diabetes – that’s created an almost impossible strain to live with. Not only physically and emotionally, but financially too,” she added.

Stoker is one half of production duo Ess O Ess and a longstanding figure in East London’s electronic music scene. In 2015, he co-founded the label Not An Animal with Andy Bainbridge. He also ran the Bad Passion party series and was a resident at Hackney venue The Gun before its closure.
