Honey Dijon, the multifaceted North American artist known for her roles as a fashion icon, activist, and Grammy winner, is set to release her first commercial mix, curating the next DJ-Kicks compilation. The 19-track set, due October 18th, will showcase her extensive house music knowledge.
Drawing from her deep roots in Chicago’s vibrant house scene and her experiences in global nightlife, Dijon has crafted a mix that celebrates the genre’s evolution. “I’m a huge fan of research,” she explains. “Putting this compilation together was basically going into my dancefloor experience and finding gems I wanted to present to people that they may not have been familiar with or that they didn’t even know existed.”
The mix spans diverse eras and locations, blending forgotten classics with rare finds. It features tracks from Chicago’s Dance Mania’s Dance Kings, Paris’ Blackjoy and Art of Tones, and Blackpool’s Shaboom. Artists like Kiko Navarro are also included, alongside a new original track from Dijon.
For Dijon, this project transcends music. “The dancefloor to me is a sacred space,” she shares. “I feel like I’m a facilitator of spirit through sound. Dancefloors are healing spaces, they’re sexual spaces, they’re joyful spaces, they’re liberating spaces. They’re places for people to discover who they are, they’re places to leave behind your worries, they’re places to celebrate with your friends, to dance, to get laid, to have fun. The dancefloor is a reflection of life and I take it very seriously.”
The DJ-Kicks mix by Honey Dijon will be available on October 18th in both digital format and vinyl. Pre-order here.
