Ibiza’s main clubs to close down during summer season

Thousands of employees will be affected after the cancellation of events.

Nightclub calendars around the world are being reprogrammed because of the coronavirus pandemic, and the White Island is no exception. Although some clubs have not commented yet, everything seems to indicate that the summer season in Ibiza is in danger.

So far, important clubs such as Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza announced the cancellation of their events in May, including Odyssey, which would take place at both venues on May 9th. On the upcoming decision, they said the following in the statement: ‘We will continue to update you on any future developments depending on how the situation evolves, hoping to have the opportunity to see each other again soon’.

In an article published in Diario De Ibiza, they indicated that these cancellations could cost up to 4,000 local employees. ‘I do not know if we will ever return to normal’, said José Luis Benítez, head of the Ibiza leisure association. ‘I do not know if we will recover the same levels of tourism that we expect’, he concluded.
