CHRSTPHR: “It’s unbelievable how fast the project is flying”

Having already linked up with Matt Sasari before on the chart-topping ‘Boom Boom’, CHRSTPHR is back on the dancefloors again with a delectable tech-house-oriented cut in ‘The Voodoo Babe’. Built for the dancefloors with its infectious vocals and irresistible bassline, ‘The Voodoo Babe’ has already amassed over 2 million plays on Spotify since its release.

EG caught up with CHRSTPHR to learn more about the release of ‘The Voodoo Babe’, his ‘Extended’ nights, and much more.

EG: Hi CHRSTPHR! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. Where are you based right now?

CHRSTPHR: Hello! Thank you for the honorable opportunity to sit with you for an interview. I am currently in Hungary, Budapest.

EG: Congratulations on the release of your new collaborative single with Matt Sassari, ‘The Voodoo Babe’. What has the initial reception been like?

CHRSTPHR: Thank you very much! Absolutely great. When the song was made, we already knew that people would love it, because we tested it at many gigs. But we never thought that so many people would listen to it in such a short time.

EG: And what can your fans expect to find on ‘The Voodoo Babe’? What’s the inspiration for this one?

CHRSTPHR: The vocal was it. When I heard it for the first time, I just drew a simple bass and kick combination, and just put it on top. I then showed it to Matt, and he sent me back a voice message, like: “Brooo, this is it”.

EG: Of course, this is not your first time linking up with Matt, having already collaborated on ‘Boom Boom’. What’s your relationship and chemistry by now? How do you guys approach the recording process?

CHRSTPHR: Yes, ‘The Voodoo Babe’ isn’t the first track that we released together. We already knew from the first time that we were very much on the same vision. For ‘Boom Boom’, I also recorded my own voice and showed it to Matt. And after  John Summit heard the song, he immediately said he wanted it.

“The vocal was it. […] I then showed it to Matt, and he sent me back a voice message, like: “Brooo, this is it”.”

EG: ‘The Voodoo Babe’ has already surpassed the 1 million streams mark. Did you guys ever envision this? What does this mean to you?

CHRSTPHR: The funny thing is, as I was writing this interview, we passed the 2 million stream mark. A huge milestone for me, cause I started my CHRSTPHR alias two years ago, and it’s unbelievable how fast the project is flying.

EG: By the way, you’re behind your own stand-alone evenings with your ‘Extended’ concept. What’s this all about? What can you tell us about the next edition?

CHRSTPHR: ‘Extended’ is my own night where I play all my tracks, what has been released and unreleased tracks as well. This is where I usually present and test the latest songs that I would like to eventually release.

EG: How do keep entertained when not in the studio? Any good music, books, or series you’d recommend? Where do you go looking for inspiration?

CHRSTPHR: Mainly, I really love playing video games. This is probably what turns off my brain the most when I’m not playing music. Also, I really like to travell. Maybe, I’m actually inspired the most when I’m in a new place and get to explore it.

EG: What are your thoughts on the current state of the scene? What would you like to see more and less of?

CHRSTPHR: It was a very good test period. For the last two years, I’ve been making lots of stuff. More Techno, more House, and Future vibes. I really want to connect with other cultures through electronic music, that’s what I feel right now. I want to create something unique that you can identify with, and I want to give my listeners more good feelings.

EG: What is art and why do we need it?

CHRSTPHR: Art is everything. If there were no art, color and energy would be missing from our whole life. I think we were born on earth to create and show ourselves through art.

EG: What’s next for CHRSTPHR? What particular milestones are you looking forwards to now? Where can your fans catch you next?

CHRSTPHR: I hope ‘The Voodoo Babe’ crosses the 3 million mark now that we’ve spoken, haha. But we are definitely preparing a lot of new things for the audience, and in the future, I would like to work with well-known singers as well.

EG: Thank you so much for your time, CHRSTPHR! We wish you all the best for the future.

CHRSTPHR: Thank you for the opportunity!
