Venezuelan producer Miguelle began his career as a resident in several clubs around the world when he was about 18 years old. Now, after a decade, he is based in Miami and he is still working on his own sound.
We had the chance to talk with Miguelle about different musical topics.
Electronic Groove: Hello Miguelle, thank you for taking the time to speak with us.
Miguelle: Hi guys, thank you! For me it is a pleasure to be here today.
EG: Tell us a little bit about your background. Where are you from? When did you start Djing and producing music and what led you to choose this career?
Miguelle: Well, from a very young age, I liked to watch DJ videos and listen to sets in my house with my friends, until one day I decided to learn to play and produce with some Venezuelan colleagues that go by the name of BARBADOS. I can say this whole journey really started when I was about 18.
EG: What are some of your favorite places you’ve played at? Do you have any international gigs planned?
Miguelle: Some of my favorite countries have been Panama, Colombia, Spain, Venezuela, and Germany. I will be going back to Panama this month to play at RESISTANCE, which is a big event and one that I’m really excited about.
EG: What is your day-to-day work like outside the club? Do you have an specific routine for working in the studio?
Miguelle: I don’t have an established routine but I am in the studio every day. I usually start in the afternoon and work until very late at night. I’m always working on old and new stuff to find unique sounds, there is always lots of music to do. In the morning before going to the studio I tend to exercise or do the things I have pending.
EG: What are some of the projects you are currently working on? Can we expect any new music from you soon?
Miguelle: Yes, of course, a very good VA vinyl just came out on Sanguina Records. It includes a collaboration I did with Mendoza, a great producer and friend. I also have tracks coming out on Vatos Locos and From The South’s upcoming VA release, alongside a group of very talented artists. Also, soon you will be able to listen to the remix I did with Tons of Venezuelan band Rawayana’s latest single, ‘Sadico’. Good things are coming.
EG: You’ve had a lot of collaborations with other artists. Do you prefer to work with others or on your own? How is it different?
Miguelle: If I feel comfortable with the artist I’m working then everything flows perfectly, but I really have no preference, I just love making music.
EG: Any other projects or anything else you would like to share with us?
Miguelle: I am organizing a Central and South America tour in early 2020. Right now I can’t share more details but I’m really looking forward to it!
EG: Thanks again for your words. We look forward to hearing more from you soon.
Miguelle: Thanks to you guys, always my pleasure!
