Romaan: “Music is a cure for all illnesses”

Romaan is a talented DJ/Producer born in France and based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Above all, he is a composer that generally loves every single style of music. Creative and passionate, he plays his music and tells a story, and knows how to grab the attention of his listeners.

We’re ready to welcome 2023 in the best way we know how, with music and new projects. Romaan took some time to chat with us and told us more about what lies ahead for him in this exciting new year.

EG: Hi Romaan! It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. 2023 is here and we’d like to know…What are your hopes for this year regarding your music career?

Romaan: I just moved to Riyadh and I hope to develop my career here. Of course, I continue to produce my tracks hoping to sign on several major labels after 2 years of absence.

EG: What are your top 3 resolutions for this new year?

Romaan: This is going to sound silly, but I think my resolutions are always the same.

  • Health, first of all, taking care of myself.
  • To improve my skills both musically and personally.
  • To reach my goals.

EG: Do you have any releases in the pipeline for the upcoming months?

Romaan: Yes, 3 new tracks finished, and a few more to go.

EG: If you could pick any event, any stage, any place: where would you like to perform in 2023?

Romaan: MDLBEAST, as I currently live in Saudi Arabia.

EG: And following on from that, if the world was your oyster for selection, who would you like to collaborate with this new year?

Romaan: My friends first, it would be Tony Cortez or Juanito, but if we talk about superstars, then I would say David Guetta, or Axwell, because of their experience and talent.

EG: Are there any new hobbies or activities you’d like to try in 2023?

Romaan: Padel, a lot of my friends do it, I’ve never done it before.

EG: Are there any new skills or new gear that you’d like to implement in your studio in 2023?

Romaan: For years, I’ve wanted to have some synths like a Moog or a Prophet, but also equip myself to mix by touch, as I learned on real mixing consoles.

EG: From a production standpoint, what would you say is the number one area you would like/need to invest time into in order to develop your production level?

Romaan: You get better and better by producing. There isn’t one specific thing that I want to develop, in fact, I try to develop all of them, whether it’s the rhythm section or my own presets.

“I predict a rich year in the middle east, I think musically it is developing fast and a lot of things will happen in that part of the world.”

EG: Any new genres you’d like to explore next year?

Romaan: I already produce quite a lot of genres. That’s one of my main flaws, if you can consider it as such. I’m still focused on House music in general, whether it’s Afro House or Tech House.

EG: New sub-genres come and go into fashion every year, what are your predictions for 2023?

Romaan: We have been going through a strong Afro and Organic House trend in the last few years, I think it will continue again this year.

EG: Besides yourself, which artists or labels should people follow this year?

Romaan: It’s hard to advise when it comes to personal taste.

For my part, I always pay attention to the most solid labels like Defected, DFTD, Toolroom, or even Cr2 Records and Simma Black.

EG: Make a prediction for 2023 about the world or music in general, and we’ll try and catch you this time next year to see if it came true!

Romaan: I predict a rich year in the middle east, I think musically it is developing fast and a lot of things will happen in that part of the world.

EG: Do you have a message for your followers for the new year?

Romaan: This year is going to be difficult for many people because of the world economic situation due to recession, war, etc…

But we have to be hopeful, there are also many beautiful things around us. Let’s stay positive, lovers, and friends. Listen to music every day, it will strengthen your mind, music is a cure for all illnesses. Thank you for your support, I wish you all a great year.
