Jóhann Jóhannsson: Award-winning Icelandic composer dies in Berlin

He passed away at the age of 48.

Jóhann Jóhannsson, author of some of the most relevant soundtracks in recent times was found dead on Friday, February 9th in his Berlin apartment, this according to his representative Tim Husom. German authorities are investigating the causes of his death.

Johannson had the ability to mix classical music with electronic instruments, which took him to win the Golden Globe for ‘The Theory of Everything’ soundtrack in 2014. He was also nominated for different awards for movies like Sicario and Arrival.

He was recently included as part of the Primavera Sound Festival this year’s lineup.
