Legowelt curates second edition of U-TRAX’s ‘Vision Mixtapes’

The compilation will be available from March 13th.

U-TRAX is set to release the second volume of its ‘Vision Mixtapes’ series with a selection of fourteen songs by Danny Wolfers, better known as Legowelt.

Wolfers and U-TRAX label owner DJ White Delight met outside the Rush Hour record store during ADE back in 2018. White Delight spoke with him for over an hour before discovering that it was Legowelt himself. In his high school days in the mid-90s, U-TRAX was a vital label for Wolfers, and some of the first records he bought from I.F.’s legendary Hotmix store in The Hague were label releases. In fact, Legowelt decided to submit his first demo on the output drawing heavily on the label’s early releases, but due to a twist of fate, that tape ended up in someone else’s mailbox, and they never got to know the talent that Wolfers would become. The label then went into a 21-year hibernation in 1997.

Fast forward to 2021, and now Legowelt joins the label choosing some of his all-time favorites from the U-TRAX and Phoq U Phonogrammen catalogs, as well as taking a look at future label releases. He selected all 14 tracks, wrote very personal notes for each one, and created illustrations in his signature style. His drawing represents some of Utrecht’s landmarks, such as the Dom Tower (as it appears on the U-TRAX logo) and the city’s canals. The result is a compilation that brings together a wide range of electronic music, from soft ambient techno to hard electro, completed with other flavors such as acid, techno, and hip hop.

Legowelt’s ‘Vision Mixtapes’ goes on sale next March 19th. Listen to a preview below, and pre-order your copy here.
