Indie-electronic pop band Metronomy has unveiled their latest offering, ‘Posse EP Volume 2,’ released under the label Ninja Tune. This five-track package sees the band’s founder, Joe Mount, taking on the role of producer, bringing a fresh and collaborative spirit to the project.
In ‘Posse EP Volume 2,’ Mount teams up with a diverse array of talents. It opens with the soulful, synth-driven ‘My Love,’ featuring the stylings of Nourished by Time. Another standout is the rhythmically intricate ‘Typical,’ which draws inspiration from UNKLE and includes contributions from Lynks, SPIDER, Master Peace, and TaliaBle.
It also features ‘With Balance,’ with Naima Bock and Joshua Idehen, a serene ballad characterized by its pastel guitar plucks and hazy vocal interweaving, culminating in Idehen’s compelling wordplay. ‘Nice Town’ showcases a collaboration with New York-based artist Pan Amsterdam, while ‘Contact High’ delivers vibrant hooks from French-American siblings Faux Real and smooth Franco-Korean vibes from Miki.
Reflecting on the collaborative nature of the release, Mount states, “The more I do stuff with other people the more excited I get about doing my own music again… For me, it’s a way of separating myself from the last 20 years of what I’ve done. You want to be proud of it – and then move on.”
