Philadelphia-raised, Brooklyn-based DJ and producer Billy Bevevino, has released his latest EP ‘Lift Me Up’ on his Analog Animals imprint. Zach Atom, fellow co-founder of Rock The House music collective, executive produced, mixed, and mastered the EP. Justin Leggett provided the project’s visuals.
‘Analog Jam’ features danceable house with squelching synths and kick drums. ‘Chunker,’ created during a Colombian bus journey, combines breaks, wiggly synths, and chopped vocals, blending ten ideas into a hip-house banger. The EP’s title track, ‘Lift Me Up,’ inspired by AceMo’s late-night DJ set, blends speed garage with funky samples and a bold bassline. ‘Release Me,’ a collaboration with D.C.’s Renai, features acid-tinged house with vocals sampled from a Philadelphia record store find.
These synth-heavy tracks, spanning house, hip-house, and UK garage, were crafted over two years in Philadelphia and South America using analog gear like the Roland TR-8S and Behringer TB-3. Billy infuses high-energy dance tracks with classic breaks and clever samples. The EP draws inspiration from early morning shows in Philadelphia and South American venues such as Bogotá’s Video Club and Buritaca’s El Rio Hostel.
Billy Bevevino’s analog-driven tracks and energetic sets showcase his love for classic samples and club culture. His music, released on labels like Basementdiscos and Y4 Records, has garnered support from renowned artists such as Todd Edwards and TSHA.
