French President Emmanuel Macron has urged UNESCO to add French touch to its list of intangible cultural heritage. He made the appeal on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, during an interview with Radio FG that coincided with the annual Fête de la Musique.

During a conversation with host Antoine Baduel on the station’s Happy Hour show, Macron pointed to Berlin techno’s recent heritage status as a precedent. “We’re going to do that too,” he said. “I love Germany, you know how European I am, but we don’t need any lessons.”

He also described France as “inventors of electro” and warned that the coming AI revolution must be handled carefully, adding, “AI mustn’t replace human intelligence. It mustn’t trivialise creativity.”
