New York City-based DJ and producer Matt FX unveils his latest musical venture, ‘Aguacultura.’ This three-track EP marks his debut release on Mexico City’s Boyanza Records.
The EP opens with ‘Atención Nosotros,’ where Matt’s production prowess shines through intricate percussion and dynamic sound design. In collaboration with Mexican DJ and vocalist JNGLEJ, the track combines an infectious rubber band bassline with ethereal synthesizers, while the artist’s commanding vocals weave an entrancing message of transformation.
The second track, ‘An Elephant in St. Tropez,’ merges deconstructed tribal rhythms with atmospheric pan flutes and rich synthesizer work, culminating in a powerful bassline. A bold 303 acid line pays tribute to dance music pioneers like Julio Bashmore and Kyodai.
The EP concludes with the title track ‘Aguacultura,’ conceived during a bullet train journey between Osaka and Tokyo. This ambient piece eschews traditional percussion for immersive synthesizer arrangements, creating a meditative sonic journey.
The release comes fresh after Matt FX’s international tour spanning 25 cities across Asia and the Americas.
