Having gained experience and passion working behind the scenes, he is now fully embracing his creative vision with his debut album, ‘Island’ and his newly launched label, MOODSHINE Records.

Fusing deep storytelling with immersive electronic soundscapes, Mondingo is crafting a sonic world where organic elements meet club-ready energy, aiming to bring a fresh dynamic to the electronic music landscape.

In this interview, EG caught up with Mondingo to talk about his upcoming releases, the evolution of his sound, and what he hopes for next as he continues to share his music with new audiences.

EG: Hi Mondingo, nice to have you on EG! How are you today?

Mondingo: Great, thanks for the invite!

EG: To begin, how would you describe this new chapter of your career?

Mondingo: This phase feels more intentional than ever. I’ve spent years working as a producer, songwriter, and musician for others, but now, everything is aligned around my own vision. The music I’m making feels the most honest it’s ever been, and with my label MOODSHINE, I finally have a home to build something long-term—not just for myself, but for other artists who share that same approach to music.

EG: Can you tell us about your new label? What inspired you to take this step?

Mondingo: MOODSHINE Records was born out of a desire for freedom. I wanted a space where electronic music and strong songwriting could meet without limitations—where storytelling is just as important as the groove. The industry often separates club music from more introspective, emotional tracks, but I believe they can exist together. With MOODSHINE, I want to give those kinds of records a home.

EG: Are there any recurring themes or emotions in the music you’re planning to release this year?

Mondingo: Absolutely. ‘Island,’ my debut album, is all about escape—leaving behind the noise of daily life and reconnecting with something deeper. Nature is a huge theme throughout, both sonically and emotionally. There’s also a strong balance between introspection and movement—some tracks lean into more organic, meditative spaces, while others embrace the rhythm of the dancefloor.

EG: Are there any sneak peek details about your upcoming album, ‘Island,’ that you can share with us?

Mondingo: Each song on ‘Island’ has a strong personal story behind it. ‘Underwater,’ my second single, was inspired by a magical dive with my father. It’s about wonder, stillness, and getting lost in something bigger than yourself. Another track, ‘Colours of your mind,’ is an ode to my sister and her vibrant energy—it’s probably the most uplifting track on the album. And ‘Disclosure,’ which closes the album, is the most personal—it talks about the pressure of being an entrepreneur and finding balance in the chaos.

“I wanted a space where electronic music and strong songwriting could meet without limitations”

EG: As you continue on your journey, do you have plans for live performances? What are your goals when it comes to bringing your music to the stage?

Mondingo: Definitely! Performing live is something I’m really passionate about. I’m a hybrid artist—I do both live electronic sets and DJ sets. The goal is to create an immersive experience where my voice, live instrumentation, and electronic elements blend into one organic flow. I want my shows to feel like a journey, not just a setlist.

EG: With your new label, MOODSHINE Records, what kind of music and artists do you aim to support? Are there any upcoming releases from other artists you can share details on now?

Mondingo: MOODSHINE is all about bridging strong songwriting with electronic music. I want to work with artists who bring emotion into their productions, who aren’t afraid to experiment. The first releases will be my own, but I’m already in talks with a few artists for collaborations and future signings. The idea is to grow it naturally and create a space where meaningful electronic music thrives.

EG: You recently invited Stereoclip to remix ‘You.’ Can you share how this collaboration came about and how you see the rework enhancing or fitting into the overall story of ‘Island’?

Mondingo: Stereoclip and I have worked together before, and I’ve always loved his ability to blend deep, atmospheric sounds with strong grooves. Since ‘You’ is a deeply personal track, I wanted a remix that could take it somewhere new while keeping its essence intact. His rework transforms it into something more club-driven but still emotional—it fits perfectly into the dual nature of ‘Island,’ where music can exist both in reflective spaces and on the dancefloor.

EG: Are there any more remixes on the horizon? If so, what can listeners expect?

Mondingo: Yes! Every single from ‘Island’ will have a remix, because I love the idea of giving the same composition a different life. Felix Raphael, Dim Kelly, and NOSI are all working on remixes that will come out throughout the year. Each one brings a unique energy—some are more club-focused, others more dreamy and cinematic.

“Creating an album with no compromises—just pure artistic intent—has been the most fulfilling thing I’ve done”

EG: What has been the most surprising or rewarding part of taking your artistry in this new direction?

Mondingo: I think the biggest reward has been seeing my audience grow so organically. I used to struggle with the promotional side of music, but once I embraced it and really connected with people, everything started falling into place. Also, creating an album with no compromises—just pure artistic intent—has been the most fulfilling thing I’ve done.

EG: How do you hope this next chapter will resonate with fans?

Mondingo: I hope ‘Island’ offers a sense of escape, of reflection. We live in such a fast-paced world, and I want this album to be a space where people can pause, feel, and reconnect. Whether they’re closing their eyes at home or dancing in a club, I want the music to bring them somewhere else.

EG: Finally, can you share what’s next in terms of new music? What can listeners expect from your next release, and how does it differ from ‘You,’ the debut single from the album?

Mondingo: Next up is ‘Underwater,’ which is quite different from ‘You.’ While ‘You’ is intimate and romantic with a fast bpm (129), ‘Underwater’ is more cinematic and expansive in terms of sound design but has a slower bpm (120)—it’s about wonder, the beauty of nature, and getting lost in a feeling. It’s still emotional, but in a way that’s more about the world around us rather than just personal connections.
