Reinier Zonneveld is set to debut his AI live music project, R², at the R² Festival. This distinctive live set will showcase a human artist and AI performing in tandem. The festival will take place at the Spaarnwoude site on August 17th, 2024.
Over the years, Zonneveld has developed R², an AI model trained on 2000 hours of his music and 1000 live performance recordings. This model will mirror his improvisational style, generating real-time compositions during performances.
Zonneveld’s R² project embodies his innovative spirit. “I’ve always been excited about pushing boundaries and integrating technology into my performances. Last year, I broke the Guinness World Record for the longest live electronic music set at my own Karren Maar Festival. This year, with R², we’re taking that ethos to new heights. This isn’t just about playing music; it’s about crafting an experience that transcends expectations. I’m super excited to have all these iconic stage hosts at my festival, where R² and I will lead you on a journey into uncharted sonic territory, redefining what’s possible in live performances,” he states.
Aside from the R² mainstage, the festival will feature seven stages. Each will represent a different phase of Zonneveld’s career, with stages named Kompass, Amnesia Pyramid, De Marktkantine, STOOR, The Beginning, Filth On Acid, and Unreal.
