Roland presents the Verselab MV-1, a standalone music production studio

A workstation with pads, a TR-REC sequencer, and vox recording capabilities.

Japanese audio gear brand Roland has introduced the Verselab MV-1, an all-in-one track production studio suite that enables users to complete songs without the need for a computer while implementing a simple workflow.

The MV-1 feels like a fully integrated workstation with no keyboard. It features a 4×4 bank of 16 pads, and a TR-REC step sequencing for recording, playing, and programming drum lines and instruments. Vocals can be recorded via the built-in mic, or by simply plugging a mic into the XLR input. There’s a phantom power option, and Auto-Pitch, Doubler, and Harmonizer effects are available as well.

Roland’s Verselab also features MIDI I/O, so a MIDI keyboard could be plugged in as well. Other connectivity options include stereo 1/4-inch I/O, dual headphones jacks, and an SD card slot.

The songwriting process can be aided by the use of included templates, pattern generators, and a guided workflow. Over 3,000 Zen Core sounds can be found onboard, with the option to add more through Roland Cloud, while mixing and mastering effects are available for a professional finish.

The Verselab MV-1 can be used with batteries or plugged in and will be priced at $700.
