Composer and percussionist Roscius has released his latest single ‘INCELUSIVE,’ the lead track from his debut album. Released under his independent label Nomadic Recordings, the single showcases the artist’s talent for weaving diverse musical elements into a cohesive and emotionally resonant composition.
‘INCELUSIVE’ is a musical journey that Roscius affectionately describes as a “musical threesome.” The track features a delicate interplay between piano and dulcimer, creating a polyrhythmic melody that evokes the dreamlike qualities of a balafon harmonic pattern.
The French artist explains the inspiration behind the track: “I think about this as a shy trio, who gradually accept their differences and merge into one. Just like in a threesome, weird at first, but then orgasmic, or like in a movie, when you don’t really understand each character straight away, but their paths eventually join, and they actually make more sense together.”
“I really wanted to embrace real emotions too, and show that percussion is more than beats and hits,” Roscius states. “It has soul, there are nuances, just like within us, humans. What seems to be misunderstandings at first can easily become grand discoveries or genius collaborations, when we take the time to dig.”
Roscius’ music reflects his global influences and innovative approach, blending curation with improvisation. His diverse soundscape spans genres from nu-jazz to minimal techno, drawing inspiration from various world music traditions.
