Short Film ‘New Rave’ celebrates young black artists in London’s electronic scene

Featuring interviews with Bone Soda’s Tommy Gold, Errol Anderson, Shy One, and Tash LC.

‘New Rave’, a short documentary centered around Black artists in London’s electronic music scene, is now available to watch. The film has been produced alongside Play Nice, and showcases not just the origins and history, but ‘the creatives shaping today’s scene and moving it forward’.

Released as a part of The Design Museum’s ‘Electronic: From Kraftwerk to The Chemical Brothers’ exhibition, it features interviews with Shy One, Errol Anderson, Tommy Gold, and Tash LC, as it explores connections between the artists and electronic music, and its roots in Black history.

‘This story is about acknowledging the past and presenting the future of electronic music, through our cast who have been inspired by the countless Black musicians in this space. Our cast, who are also inspirations in their own right shaping sonics and nightlife in London, are now undoubtedly going to shape a whole industry post-lockdown’, said Play Nice in a press release.

The Design Museum is still showcasing the ‘Electronic: From Kraftwerk to The Chemical Brothers’ exhibition, but you can already watch the documentary below.
