SKAI brings groove, growth, and good vibes on ‘Epissure’

Born in Lithuania and now based in Copenhagen, 26-year-old producer, DJ, and Gravity co-founder SKAI has carved out her place through groovy, energetic sets she describes as “good vibes music” — emotionally charged, uplifting, and built for connection.

Her latest release, the collaborative single ‘Epissure’ with Naarly, showcases this creative direction with power and elegance. With roots in gymnastics and experience as an artist manager and booker, SKAI brings discipline, vision, and inclusivity into everything she creates—from her performances and releases to the GIRL X GIRL and Gravity events she curates.

In this interview, SKAI opens up about the message behind ‘Epissure’, her journey from the Baltic scene to Copenhagen, and why authenticity and community still matter most.

EG: Hi, SKAI! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been doing?

SKAI: Thank you for having me! I’ve been great, busy in the best way. A lot of new music, more gigs, and exciting collaborations coming together. It feels like things are finally aligning creatively.

EG: First of all, congratulations on the drop of your new collaborative single, ‘Epissure’! You must be very excited about this one. What has the initial reception been like so far?

SKAI: Thank you! The response has been amazing so far. People really connected with the sound, and it’s been especially nice to hear such great feedback from fellow DJs and producers. When other artists tell you they’ve added your track to their sets — that’s the best feeling. It makes all the work behind it worth it.

EG: So, what can your fans expect to find on ‘Epissure’? Is there a concept or emotional trigger driving this one?

SKAI: ‘Epissure’ is all about confidence and attitude. I wanted it to feel like the soundtrack to walking into a room and completely owning it — that mix of elegance, groove, and power. And I hope people feel that way when they listen to it.

EG: How did the collaboration with Naarly come about? What was the recording process like?

SKAI: My A&R actually connected us, and it instantly felt like the right match. I already knew Naarly from his track ‘What I Need’, which I was a big fan of, so getting to work with him was honestly such a pleasure. When I had the ‘Epissure’ demo, I immediately thought he could bring the groove and energy it needed. He jumped on the idea straight away, and when I heard his version for the first time, I got goosebumps — it was exactly what the track was missing.

“Artists need to find their voice instead of following trends”

EG: Diving into your background… You made the move from Lithuania to Copenhagen. Was that motivated by music?

SKAI: I moved to Copenhagen in 2016 to study event management — music wasn’t really the plan back then. I actually come from a professional gymnastics background, which taught me a lot about discipline. But I’ve always been a music fangirl, and that passion eventually led me into the industry and later into DJing and producing. I decided to stay because the music scene here is so much more developed compared to the Baltic countries. In Scandinavia, there are more opportunities, more collaborations, and people genuinely support each other’s growth.

EG: And before writing your own adventure behind the decks, you actually worked as a manager and booker. When did the transition come about, and what things did you know from your previous roles that could be implemented to your advantage as an artist?

SKAI: That’s true! I worked as an artist manager for a few years before I ever touched the decks. It gave me a deep understanding of how the industry works — from marketing and branding to production and live shows. So when I started DJing and producing, I already knew what makes an event connect with people. It also taught me discipline — how to treat your art like a business without losing the fun. I recently stepped away from management to focus fully on my own project, though I still organize events with Gravity. Right now, it’s all about producing, performing, and growing as an artist.

EG: By the way, you’re also behind the GRAVITY event series in Vilnius. How did this project come about? What is the concept behind GRAVITY, and when can we expect the next edition?

SKAI: Actually, GRAVITY was born in Copenhagen and later brought to Vilnius. It started as a small idea — to build an international-level experience and bring world-class electronic artists to our scene while supporting upcoming talent, especially women. From the very beginning, the vision was about inclusion, quality, and creating a real movement around electronic music. Over time, it’s grown into a full-scale experience with strong visual storytelling, high production, and a community that keeps expanding. The next edition is already in the works — we have some huge shows this autumn with ARTBAT, Miss Monique, and Danny Avila — and, as always, we’re taking it to the next level: bigger, bolder, and even more immersive.

EG: Now, stepping outside of the studio… Given your experience, what are some of the biggest challenges artists will face in the near future?

SKAI: Standing out. Branding yourself. Marketing is the key. There’s so much talent and content right now that staying authentic is the biggest challenge. Artists need to find their voice instead of following trends. And also — keeping mental balance. The industry moves fast, and it’s easy to burn out if you don’t stay connected to why you started.

“Right now, it’s all about producing, performing, and growing as an artist”

EG: What’s next for SKAI? What milestones are you looking forward to now? Where can your fans catch you next? Any tours on the horizon?

SKAI: From the team, I’ve got the opportunity to support Miss Monique, which will definitely be one of my biggest shows so far. I also have several upcoming releases lined up — both local and international collaborations. 2026 is all about taking my sound abroad and connecting with new audiences. There’s no tour confirmed yet, but the goal is definitely to play more gigs outside of Scandinavia and keep growing.

EG: Thank you so much for your time, SKAI! We wish you all the best in the future. Take care!

SKAI: Thank you! It’s been such a pleasure. I’m grateful for the support and excited for what’s ahead — this is just the beginning.
