Sònar postpones its dates until 2021

The event will return in June of next year.

Due to the global crisis stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the renowned Sónar festival announced that the 2020 editions of Sónar Barcelona and Sónar + D have been postponed until 2021.

After carefully examining all of the alternatives and closely following the official guidelines, this decision has been reached as the only possible way to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all our festivalgoers, artists and teams, they explained in their statement.

The 27th edition of Sónar Barcelona and the 9th Sónar + D will be held on June 17th, 18th and 19th, 2021, at the Fira Montjuïc headquarters in Barcelona and Fira Gran Vía de L’Hospitalet. Likewise, OFF Sónar 2020 was postponed until the week of June 17th to 20th of next year.

However, despite the cancellations, it was also announced that the brand will hold a special edition of Sónar + D, set to take place on September 18 and 19, at the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB), the original home of Sónar.

This new venture, under the name of Sónar + D CCCB, will be a mostly virtual edition, free of charge and open to all, with the possibility of physical assistance depending on how capacity legislation evolves. The event will present an extensive program of participatory activities and networks, maintaining the formats of conference congresses, masterclasses, demonstrations, workshops, performances, and networks.
