Technics has announced the forthcoming launch of the SL-1200 55th Anniversary Edition, a limited-edition turntable celebrating five decades of its foundational direct-drive series.
Limited to 12,000 units globally, the commemorative release combines the classic SL-1200 silhouette with gold-toned details and is offered in seven distinct colorways. The build incorporates a gold-anodized S-shaped tonearm, matching control knobs, and an individually engraved serial number badge.
Technically built on the MK7’s core platform, the model features an iron-coreless direct-drive motor, digital speed control, a vertical pitch fader, and reverse play mode. First introduced in 1972, the SL-1200 series evolved from a hi-fi component into a global standard for club performance, shaping decades of DJ culture and vinyl mixing.
The turntable will make its public debut on August 20, 2026, at DMC DJs Day Poland, ahead of a worldwide release scheduled for September 2026.
