Born from Greco-Italian roots and guided by a French sensibility, Terella is formed by Ale and Swann—a duo forging a rich fusion of languages, culture, and cinematic electronics. Meaning “little Earth” in Latin, Terella reflects their fascination with the planet’s pull: magnetic, delicate, and mysterious.

Their sound blends house, progressive, and melodic techno with multilingual vocals and ambient depth. Initially sparked by Ale’s lyrical writing in Greek and Italian dialects, the project found its sonic shape once Swann entered the picture—offering a production counterpart to her poetic voice. Together, they formed Terella in the studio, channeling their personal identities into an emotive and expansive musical space.
The pair now return with their latest release, ‘Eclissi’, via EGO Music. The single is a love song, a personal meditation, and a statement of sonic intent.
In this conversation, Terella open up about language, identity, and what lies ahead.
EG: Hi, guys! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been doing?
Terella: Thank you for having us. We’ve been doing great – creating, performing, and putting all our energy into this new chapter. It feels like an intense but exciting moment, and we’re grateful to share it.
EG: First of all, congratulations on the drop of your new single, ‘Eclissi’! You must be very excited about this one. What has the initial reception been like so far?
Ale: We’ve been encouraged by the response so far. Friends and listeners have told us they feel something unique in the way the vocals and the music intertwine, that this blend brings an energy they didn’t expect. It gives us even more excitement for what’s to come!
EG: So, what can your fans expect to find on ‘Eclissi’, musically speaking?
Swann: This piece is a powerful track with deep textures, built around moments of tension and release. Its driving techno beat carries you to another dimension, guided by the track’s hypnotic melodies.
EG: ‘Eclissi’, meaning “eclipse” in Italian, is quite a gripping concept for a title. How does an “eclipse” translate into music? What’s the story here?
Ale: ‘Eclissi’ is about that moment when part of yourself is hidden – almost eclipsed – by the weight of expectations, whether from society, family, or even yourself. The track translates that feeling into sound: tension, shadow, release. It’s both dark and luminous, and in that contrast, there’s freedom. For us, it marks the passage from who we thought we had to be, into who we truly are.

EG: How do you go about in the studio? Do you each have set roles? What are your strengths as a duo?
Swann: Usually, when Ale is in her creative bubble, she writes poems in English, Italian, or Greek, and records herself humming melodies on her little digital recorder, a Zoom H4n. When she shares it with me, a wave of ideas immediately comes to mind. I head into the studio, build a loop, add melodic elements, create a groove, and a bassline around her voice. I play it back to her, she gives me feedback, and we adjust together. Once we feel there’s something really solid, we sit down side by side and work on the arrangement together.

EG: And how did you guys connect? Was the idea for Terella an instant one?
Ale: Swann and I met through music before the pandemic. Terella first existed for me as a raw energy and a strong identity I carried, writing lyrics with a dream before we met. When Swann and I decided to experiment in the studio, that energy found its counterpart. Once the first track came to life, the rest of the album felt like a necessity.
EG: How would you define your own sound? Are you making the music you thought you’d be making when you first got started?
Ale: Our sound comes from who I am – my Greco-Italian roots, my love for writing, and the music that has always moved me. Blending my poetry with electronic music is my way of honoring that identity, and I hope it allows others to feel an emotional journey on the dance floor. It’s the type of music that I always wanted to make.
Swann: Our sound is powerful, hypnotic, and deeply immersive – almost as if it comes from the planet Terella. For me, it reflects my own journey as a producer: I’ve always been fascinated by creating music that feels like an escape, a bridge between reality and imagination. What excites me the most is blending my melodic roots with Ale’s poetry and voice to create something that feels both intimate and cosmic. That’s the sound I always wanted to share with the world.
EG: Now, stepping outside of the studio… Given your understanding, what are some of the biggest challenges artists will face in the near future?
Ale: One of the biggest challenges is navigating the pressure to conform – maintaining your authenticity, protecting the core of your sound and vision, despite the frequent pressure to fit a specific category to please others.

EG: What’s next for Terella? What milestones are you looking forward to now? Where can your fans catch you next? Any tours on the horizon?
Swann: The next steps are really exciting. We have three more singles coming, all taken from our debut album of 13 tracks, which will be released this winter. The next single is called ‘Mystiko’ – so keep an eye out for that.
On the live side, you can catch us starting in November: first in Martinique for a Carte Blanche event, then in Europe at Moon Club in Warsaw, with a few more surprises to come. We’re also preparing a tour to bring our music to even more places. Our fans will get to experience our 1h15 hybrid set: a DJ performance built entirely on our own productions from the debut album, with a few tracks from the next one already in the pipeline – and of course Ale singing live in Greek, Italian, and English. And while all of this is unfolding, we’re already working on our second album, pushing our sound into new directions.
