The Soundgarden returned to the Skyline in Glasgow

Over the past couple of years Skyline in Glasgow has consistently hosted legendary line ups with names like Hernan Cattaneo, Danny Howells, Dave Seaman and Nick Warren, which has put the venue hot on our radar.

After an amazing time at our first party at the Skyline for Seladoria on September 22nd, we couldn’t resist returning for The Soundgarden on October 13th. With a direct flight of just over an hour from Amsterdam and an easy 15-minute Uber ride from the airport to the Radisson Red hotel in downtown Glasgow, where the Skyline is located, it makes for a very easy trip. Upon entering the hotel, check-in was quick and friendly. The staff at the hotel made us feel welcomed, and as soon as we got to our room we felt extra special when we saw the welcome plate of desserts and complimentary drinks waiting for us, which were a beautiful added touch of their attention to detail and hospitality.

The rooms are modern with fresh and fun designs, super comfortable beds, and a large floor-to-ceiling window, which showed us an awesome view of the river. After freshening up, we went up to the top floor where the Skyline bar is located on level 9. With floor-to-ceiling windows, you get an amazing view of the river and surrounding buildings like the OVO Hydro (a beautiful indoor concert arena). After we took in the beautiful autumn view, we got our first drink at the bar to get the party started.

We arrived early at 1 pm to hear Skyline residents Andy Newland & Twilo kick off the day before The Soundgarden family took over. First up was Martin Fredes, making his UK debut and warming up the dance floor nicely before Australia’s Zankee Gulati, also made his UK debut. The sun was still shining and he had us dancing to tracks like his new remix of the classic ‘Shiny Disco Balls’, which played on our nostalgia. Next up was Argentina’s Mai Lawson, who continued to build on the energy and created a beautiful vibe. It really was a family affair on the dance floor as her mother and sister were there dancing the night away. Another UK debut that day was of Simon Vuarambon, who brought his deep style of progressive music that had the dance floor eager for each new track.

Spain’s Henry Saiz then took over and by this time the dance floor was overflowing with people giving it their all! The vibe was full of energy and it was easy to see that the Scottish people love good music, and don’t shy away from letting their hair down!

Skyline is equipped with a top-notch Void sound system which makes the musical experience even better. The pure, crisp sounds are amazing wherever you are on the dance floor, plus the beautiful disco balls that sparkle with the lights, and the leafy decor make it the perfect fit for The Soundgarden vibe. From day to night the Skyline is a beautiful place to dance, drinks are easily accessible at the bar, and if you need some fresh air or a smoke break the terrace is open just past the DJ booth.

Day turned into night far too quickly, and it was finally time for The Soundgarden boss, Nick Warren to play the grand finale. His signature style of rock-infused progressive music took over, and blow-up guitars floated around the dance floor to highlight his love for guitar riffs. It was a magical day we never wanted to end but finally it was closing time at 3 am. After 14 hours of dancing, it was finally time to say good night. A huge benefit of partying at Skyline is if you stay at the hotel, you only need to get the elevator down and you can crash without the need for transit. You can also take food breaks downstairs at the restaurant or order their signature pizzas to your room, which is especially delicious after a full day of dancing!

It’s rare to see such big names in small venues these days, which is a big part of what makes Skyline so special. They already have a massive lineup of parties ready for 2025, starting with Dmitry Molosh and Gorje Hewek on January 17th followed by Danny Howells, All Night Long, on January 26th, which is already 80% sold out!

With direct flights from many major cities to Glasgow, this is definitely a fun weekend getaway. You can find their stay + party packages here.

We look forward to many more fun days and nights at the Skyline!
