Mita Gami selects 10 tracks to get into the SXM Festival mood

SXM Festival returns from March 8-12, 2023 for a musical and cultural experience like no other. It is the only festival in the world that takes over an entire island – the Caribbean gem of Saint Martin | Sint Maarten – and is the ultimate destination experience.

Since its debut in 2016, SXM Festival has proven to be so much more than just another festival. This life-enriching experience quickly became one of the most talked about musical gatherings in the world. It’s a mix of Caribbean, French, and Dutch culture, with an audience of worldly adventurers from over 35 countries and local enthusiasts gathering for some of the best underground electronic music talent on the planet. SXM Festival is a 5-day and 5-night electronic music escape and breeding ground for musical experimentation and discovery – eclipsed only by the beauty of the festival’s host location.

SXM Festival’s Phase 2 lineup adds a new batch of talented names to the fold, starting with Grammy Award-winning South African artist Black Coffee and Desolat label co-founder Loco Dice, plus Puerto Rico’s own Natalia Roth, the stylish sounds of Moody Jones, and Anthony Middleton of Audiofly. Highlights on the Phase 2 lineup continue with Moroccan electronic music ambassador Amine K, members of the Scenarios collective and label Emanuel Satie and Maga, and respected French export Oxia, along with a diverse mix of veteran and rising names including Jean Pierre, Layla Benitez, Paolo Rocco, Ms. Mada, Paso Doble, UNDERHER, Airrica, Wahm, and more.

Ahead of his performance at this year’s edition of the SXM Festival, Mita Gami selects his Top 10 tracks to get into the groove.

1. Mita Gami – Sun (Original Mix)

“My latest release on Maccabi House. ‘Sun’ is one of my signature tracks and a highlight in my sets throughout the last year.”

2. Parallelle & Fulltone – How Can I Resist (Patrice Bäumel Remix)

“This Patrice remix gets everyone mesmerized. His productions always blow my mind. At the right time, it’s a bomb of energy to the floor.”

3. Renato Cohen – Say Yes (Theus Mago Remix)

“What I especially like about this remix by the Mexican producer is that the groove doesn’t stop for a moment, the feeling is that everything is running forward. A track that is really fun to play.”

4. Dennis Ferrer – Reach 4 Freedom (DF’s Unreleased Guitar Dub)

Dennis Ferrer is one of my favorite producers (and many others of course) in the world, I got to play this version on other tracks quite a bit recently. The guitar playing there is simply amazing and always creates a happy atmosphere.”

5. Saraga – Around The Sun (Run It) (Original Mix)

Saraga is a good friend of mine from Tel Aviv and a great DJ that I love to listen to. What I like about this track is that it combines a sexy groove and happy vocals, for some situations this is exactly what is needed.”

6. Kry Wolf – Concrete (Woz Remix)

“When I want to play a breakbeat song, this is one of the first that comes to my mind, especially in small clubs. Great groove.”

7. Argy – Love Dose (Original Mix)

“Super old one, and if I’m not wrong, one of the very first releases by Argy. I usually play it over another track, the psychedelic lead is something you can’t ignore and is soooo good.”

8. Adam Ten & Mita Gami – Night Shift  (Original Mix)

“Our latest collaboration that was released on Crosstown Rebels (with High On). Brings emotion and tension.”

9. Steve Lawler – Distrait (Gorge & Nick Curly Remix)

“A bit different from my regular selection, a great filler that keeps the floor moving with very minimalistic elements.”

10. Afriqua – Legacy (Original Mix)

“I just love this track. I played it a lot lately. Such a great producer.”
