Yeadon’s label drops VA ‘Northern Lights volume 1’

It’s a high octane 4 tracker.

10 Steps North presents ‘Northern Lights volume 1’, the first in a series of various artist compilations from Yeadon‘s UK based imprint. The release features music from label friends Port Manteau, Dan Patrick, and Gallago who all played at the label’s first party back in November at Cobalt Studios, in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Seductive opener ‘Torus’, by Dan Patrick, is heavy on the lows, featuring a dazzling arrangement of intertwining arps, vocals, modulated drones, and piano keys.  The follow-up, duo Port Manteau’s ‘Deadline’ gets down on a velvet ride. A throbbing framework, combined with gorgeous ever-evolving rolling stabs that provide a straight-up house feel makes for a lethal combination that sounds fresh throughout the entire journey.  For the third act, it’s 10 Steps North’s top man on the controls, Yeadon, with his track ‘Ten’. A peak time deep progressive outing, that feels just enormous. Aggressive arpeggios lay the foundation of a banger that rides on a rumbling low end, showcasing a near-cosmic breakdown. For the finale, Gallago delivers ‘Free Fall’. Flashy and trancey synth work take the spotlight here, for a gripping roller coaster of a trip. Expansive and glamorous, the vocal-led moments make for a beautiful blinder.
