Yousef celebrates three decades in the music industry with the release of his fifth artist album, ‘I Operate In Purple’. Out on his own Circus Recordings, the project finds the Liverpool-born artist transforming personal challenges into uplifting, soul-charged house music.
‘I Operate In Purple’ replaces the introspection of Yousef’s 2019 album ‘9 Moor Drive’ with a pursuit of light, joy, and renewal. Across 14 tracks, he collaborates with Baby Girl, Kuuda, Bodacious Thang, Alexx, and Yasmin, alongside longtime partner Tim Hutton, whose live instrumentation adds depth and warmth to the record.
The album features standout moments such as ‘Higher Place’ featuring Kuuda — later remixed into a radio-ready version by Calvin Harris — as well as the soulful ‘I Feel Good’ featuring Alexx and the groove-driven ‘In My Shoes’ featuring Bodacious Thang. With support from the likes of Carl Cox, Marco Carola, Calvin Harris, Michael Bibi, and Danny Howard, the release reaffirms Yousef’s enduring relevance on the global stage.
Speaking about the record, Yousef shared: “‘I Operate in Purple’ stands as a heartfelt thank you — a celebration of the journey, the community, and the music that shaped me.”
Over his 30-year career, Yousef has released music on labels including Cocoon, Crosstown Rebels, Defected, and Knee Deep In Sound, alongside his own Circus Recordings. His remix portfolio includes reworks for artists such as Sven Väth, Four Tet, Chaka Khan, and Fatboy Slim, while his renowned Circus events in Liverpool remain a cornerstone of UK club culture after more than two decades.
