Bennun & Healey share 10 tracks that influenced their latest EP

Bennun & Healey are Bristol-based sound-smith Colin Bennun and DB Stereo’s DJ Tim Healey.

With support by Robert Owens, Gus Gus, Sister Bliss, Riva Starr, Richie Hawtin, Oscar G, Paul Oakenfold, and Sonique, their debut on DB Stereo is all guns blazing with this astonishing single Lucy.

Here are 10 tunes that influenced their latest single…

1. Rebolledo – Discotico Plexico (Maceo Plex Remix) Hippie Dance

“This will be in my sets for years to come – totally keeps everyone in a holding space while massive sounds are fired off around the sound system…”

2. Riva Starr, Dennis Cruz & Gene Farris – Play (Original Mix) [Snatch! Records]

“Deepest techy house – incredible bass.”

3. Vangelis – Blade Runner Soundtrack (Warners)

“I always reach for Vangelis for moody string inspiration and synth work outs.”

4. Nirvana – Lithium (Little Roy Cover version) (Ark Records)

“Sometimes you just need to turn off the dance music and hear different sounds. Little Roy and his reggae covers of Nirvana are just perfect.”

5. Jesus and Mary Chain – Damage and Joy (Artificial Plastic Records)

“No dance beats here – psyche rock opus from JAMC produced by Youth. Love it. 2017’s best LP IMHO.”

6. Jamiroquai – Superfresh (Solomun remix) [Virgin EMI]

Solomun is really on fire at the moment, this remix shows you why. For me he has the perfect balance between mainstream and underground. Brilliant.”

7. Sante – Need’ ft. Stereo MC’s (Tiger Stripes Remix) [Avotre]

“Tiger Stripes are nailing it with this techy sound that works the club floor.”

8. Leftfield – Open Up (Skream Remix) [Sony Music]

“I had been playing the original from 1997 in my sets, and then I got sent this remix by Skream – this is massive.”

9. Muse – Super Massive Black Hole (Original mix) [Warners]

“I made an edit of this and it wastes the dance floor – no extra production – just the original single in its entirety. Dirty electro rock.”

10. Jagwar Ma – Slipping (Soulwax Remix) [Marathon Artists]

“Soulwax need no introduction. This is serious return to form.”
