SAPIAN is a DJ and producer in his early 20s whose releases have landed on Diynamic, Maccabi House, Black Book Records, and Revival New York.

His music has also earned support from Prospa, Jamie Jones, Josh Baker, Michael Bibi, and Mau P as he continues to build an international presence around a sound shaped by groove, attitude, and emotional contrast.
His latest single, ‘REASON WHY,’ just arrived via Prophecy, Prospa’s new label, delivering the debut release of the imprint.
In this conversation, SAPIAN discusses the origins of his name, the moments that expanded his reach beyond his local scene, and the long-term vision behind the project.
EG: Hi SAPIAN, welcome to Electronic Groove. It’s great to have you with us. How have you been lately, and what has been occupying most of your time and energy as the project continues to grow?
SAPIAN: Thanks for the invite. I’d say my energy is at an all-time high. Most of my time and focus right now goes into expanding my presence internationally. For me, that happens in a few different ways.
The first is constantly creating new music and pushing my sound forward. I never want to repeat myself, so I’m always looking for ways to evolve and keep things fresh while staying true to my identity.
The second is being present in the places where the industry comes together. Spending time in places like Ibiza has been incredibly important, not just for networking, but because I believe people should be able to connect the music with the person behind it. Showing up, building real relationships, and being part of the community is just as important as what happens in the studio.
EG: Let’s kick this one off from the beginning. How did the name ‘SAPIAN’ come to life, and what does it represent for you as an artist?
SAPIAN: The name ‘SAPIAN’ actually came from one of my best friends back when we were in ninth grade. To this day, neither of us really knows what it means, and it’s important to say that it has nothing to do with Sapiens or Homo Sapiens.
At first, it was just my gamertag on Call of Duty and Fortnite. Then it became the nickname all my friends called me, and after a while it felt natural to make it my DJ name too.
Over time, SAPIAN became much more than just a name. It represents a character. The music has attitude and confidence, but it also has emotion. I always want people to feel something unexpected, whether it’s from the very first kick or a melodic moment later in the track. My goal is for every release to have its own identity while still sounding
EG: Your journey has taken you from a local artist to gaining international attention and support. Looking back, what have been the most important milestones along that path so far?
SAPIAN: For me, the biggest milestones have been the moments when I realized the music was reaching places before I did. I started receiving messages from DJs I really respect, seeing my unreleased tracks being played in different sets, and then watching people upload rips of those records to SoundCloud, with some reaching hundreds of thousands of plays before an official release.
Miami Music Week 26′ was probably one of the clearest examples. I was supposed to be there, but my flight was canceled. I ended up sitting at home while my phone was exploding with videos and tags of my music being played across Miami. I didn’t make it there, but my music did.
Those moments were important because they showed me that what I was building had started moving beyond my own circle. For me, that transition from sending music out myself to seeing it travel organically has been one of the biggest milestones so far.
EG: Your music has earned support from some of the biggest names in electronic music. Was there a particular moment when you realized your work was starting to resonate beyond your immediate circle?
SAPIAN: React to my music. There’s nothing that compares to standing in a crowd and watching people genuinely connect with something you created. Seeing that energy live and realizing your music can bring so much joy to complete strangers is an incredible feeling.
Beyond that, earning support from artists I looked up to for years has been another defining moment. It gave me confidence that I was heading in the right direction, but for me, the biggest achievement will always be seeing people smile, dance, and create memories through my music.
EG: One story that stands out is the Capital Dance Radio shoutout from Prospa and Cloonee. Can you take us back to that moment and explain what it meant for you personally and professionally?
SAPIAN: That was a really special moment for me. Prospa and Cloonee are artists I truly admire, not only because of their music, but also because of their overall approach, lifestyle, and the identity they’ve built around their projects.
Hearing them talk about my music on Capital Dance Radio was something I never expected. It meant a lot because it came from artists whose sound and vision I really connect with. It gave me a lot of confidence and showed me that the direction I’m taking with my music is truly connecting with people.

EG: We understand that a canceled trip to Miami Music Week 2026 unexpectedly became one of the biggest turning points of your career. What happened, and how did that experience change your perspective?
SAPIAN: Miami Music Week 26′ was supposed to be a very important moment for me. I was planning to be there, but my flight got canceled at the last minute. At first, it felt like I had missed a huge opportunity.
While I was at home, my phone started exploding with notifications. I was receiving videos from Miami of Prospa, Josh Baker, and Cloonee playing my music at different events throughout the week. It was a surreal feeling.
That moment changed my perspective. It showed me that the music itself can travel beyond any physical location. Even when I wasn’t there, my sound was being experienced by people in one of the biggest moments of the electronic music calendar, and that gave me a completely different understanding of the power of music.
EG: Beyond producing great music, what do you think truly matters when building a sustainable career in today’s electronic music industry?
SAPIAN: As I mentioned earlier, I believe that being present in the right places is a key part of building a career in this industry. Electronic music is built around people, relationships, and real connections.
For me, it’s important that people don’t only know my music, but also know the person behind it. Building genuine relationships, showing up, and being part of the community are just as important as creating great music.
Another important part is building the right team around you. Having people who understand you, support your vision, and share the same values is something I see as essential. The people around me are not just a team; they are like a second family. They help me feel complete and allow me to be the best version of myself as an artist.
EG: There’s a difference between releasing tracks and building a genuine artistic identity. How have you approached defining what SAPIAN represents beyond the music itself?
SAPIAN: I think the first step was understanding myself as an artist. There was a period where I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to take musically, and I didn’t feel that the music I was making truly represented me. That’s why I chose not to release it.
I went through a personal and creative process, exploring different sounds and experiencing different scenes around the world. That opened my mind and changed the way I looked at music. I started taking inspiration from different places, cultures, and moments that connected with me, and combined them with my own perspective.
That process is what helped create the SAPIAN of today, an identity that feels authentic and represents who I am both musically and personally.
EG: Looking ahead, what can listeners expect from your upcoming releases, and where do you feel your sound is heading creatively?
SAPIAN: I feel like my sound is naturally developing in two different directions, while still keeping the same identity.
One side is more funky, energetic, and focused on creating a fun atmosphere, like my release ‘BRONX,’ which represents that side of my sound.
The other side is more powerful and driven, like my new release ‘REASON WHY.’ It’s more focused on energy and impact, with a harder edge and less of a focus on emotional moments.
I enjoy having both sides because they show different parts of my personality as an artist. The common thread between them is always the same goal: creating music that feels unique and instantly recognizable as SAPIAN.

EG: Finally, when you think about the next five years, what does success look like to you, and what is the long-term vision you’re building for the SAPIAN project?
SAPIAN: For me, success is about staying true to my identity while continuing to grow and evolve as an artist. I never want to lose the things that make SAPIAN unique, but at the same time, I always want to keep exploring, learning, and pushing myself creatively.
My goal is to reach the venues and scenes that I’ve always envisioned myself being part of, and to build a project that has a real impact.
One of the biggest things I would love to achieve is reaching a point where I can support other artists and help them grow, the same way artists I respect have supported me along my journey. For me, that’s a full-circle moment and a big part of the legacy I want to build with SAPIAN.
