Drumcode has launched its first remix package of Bart Skils’ works, honoring one of the label’s most esteemed artists. This release showcases both modern and classic tracks, reimagined by Joris Voorn and the duo Dok & Martin.
The collection features a recent Bart Skils track from early 2023, ‘Something More’ (co-produced with Weska), alongside a fresh take on the 2014 classic ‘Shadowprint.’ In his Drumcode debut, Joris Voorn imbues ‘Something More’ with his trademark ethereal energy, blending silky pads and an enhanced build-up while maintaining the original’s smooth groove.
Spanish duo Dok & Martin, chosen by Skils to reinterpret ‘Shadowprint,’ transform the original minimal techno track with its distinctive baritone vocal into a contemporary dancefloor anthem. They add peak-time intensity while preserving the vocal’s edge.
Bart Skils remarked, “As a fellow Amsterdamer, Joris Voorn is a long-time friend and was a perfect match for ‘Something More’, which he turned into a fat melodic groover. For my classic ‘Shadowprint’ vocal, Dok & Martin turned it into a crazy good big room hammer track that goes down like a storm.”
