Native Instruments GmbH, the Berlin based company behind Traktor, Maschine, and other leading music production tools, has entered preliminary insolvency proceedings in Germany. Court documents confirm the filing and the appointment of Prof. Dr. Torsten Martini as the insolvency administrator, who will oversee the company’s restructuring process.

Under German law, preliminary insolvency is a court supervised phase designed to protect a company’s assets and assess whether it can be reorganized, refinanced, or sold as a viable business. Operations, including product activation and support services, can continue during this phase while the administrator reviews financials and options.

Reports note that Plugin Alliance has stated it is not part of the insolvency filing and continues normal operations. The overall implications for the broader group, including brands such as iZotope and Brainworx, are still emerging in official disclosures.

The news has stirred concern across the music technology industry, but at this stage it does not mean product services will immediately stop. Outcomes range from successful restructuring to potential sales of business units, depending on what the administrator determines.
