Artist Nico Stojan has died, as it was announced on his social media channels on July 26th, 2026. The cause of his death has not been disclosed yet.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our dear Nico has passed,” the post read. “Our beloved Nico was an extraordinary person. He had the rare gift of making others feel seen, understood, and accepted. He was loving, warm-hearted, humorous, and full of compassion.”
“His place in our lives and in our souls will always belong to him.
The love that bound us together does not end with his death. It remains, in every memory, in every thought, and in everything he has left behind in people’s hearts,” the post continued.
Nico Stojan was a Berlin-born DJ, producer, and label co-founder whose career in electronic music spans several decades. Initially rooted in hip-hop, jazz, and soul during his early days as a turntable artist in the 1990s, he transitioned into house and techno as Berlin’s underground nightlife scene expanded. A major turning point in his career came through his prominent residency at the legendary Berlin club Bar 25, which helped cement his signature sound, a deep, organic blend of tech-house infused with warm groove elements and subtle nods to his musical background. Following the closure of Bar 25, he became a fixture at other iconic capital venues like Panoramabar and Watergate while expanding his reach to international audiences.
As a producer, Stojan bridged analog instrumentation and digital production, frequently incorporating live classical elements like his training on the clarinet into his creative output. He released music across notable underground imprints such as SONARA Records, Crosstown Rebels, and Kindisch, among others, and also co-founded the record label Ouïe alongside Acid Pauli. He was in the process of recording a new studio album.
Nico was a friend of Electronic Groove and part of the Listed Bookings artist roster. He recorded two EG Podcasts, one in 2025 and the other in 2015. He also shared a top 10 selection with some of the tracks that influenced his musical career.
We send our condolences to his family and friends.
