EG SPOTLIGHT.335 Matthew Sona

Hungarian DJ and producer Matthew Sona steps into the EG Spotlight series with a session that reflects one of progressive house’s most promising new voices.

Born in 2004, Sona has already built a name that travels far beyond his age. His releases on The Soundgarden, Mango Alley, and Clubsonica have placed him in the orbit of leading figures such as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Eelke Kleijn, Lee Burridge, and Sébastien Léger, while his own label, All That Is., gives him a space to shape his ideas without fixed borders.

What makes Sona’s rise feel different is not only the support around him, but the discipline behind it. In a recent conversation, he spoke about learning production with real focus, spending long hours studying Ableton, and treating music with a serious mindset from the start. He also pointed to mentorship, especially through Peter Makto, as a key part of his growth as both an artist and a person.

For his EG Spotlight appearance, Sona brings that same clarity to the booth. The session opens a window into his current world, where progressive house is guided by patience, detail, and quiet confidence. It is the sound of a young artist moving fast, but with his feet firmly planted in the culture that shaped him.
