Sónar extends global program with Tokyo’s NU Festival debut

Taking place on June 26th–28th at TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY.

Sónar will continue its international activity this summer through a new collaboration with NU Festival 2026, taking place from June 26th to 28th at TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY in Tokyo.

Created under the concept Next × New × Unity, NU Festival will bring together music, art, technology, and digital culture across four venues and four programme concepts: NU Live, NU Art, NU Station, and NU Park. As part of the collaboration, Sónar and Sónar+D will help shape two key strands of the program.

NU Live × Sónar Sound will take over LINKPILLAR Hall with Actress, Suzanne Ciani, William Basinski, Grandbrothers, DJ KRUSH, Nathan Fake, Two Shell, Daito Manabe, Meitei, Sapphire Slows, Sakura Tsuruta, Kyomi, Minna-no-Kimochi, COLA REN, and more. Actress will also perform with Suzanne Ciani as Concrète Waves, while Basinski will present a world-premiere grand piano performance, and Grandbrothers will make their Japanese debut.

At MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives, NU Art × Sónar+D will present exhibitions, talks, installations, and live performances curated in collaboration with artist and AI researcher Nao Tokui.
