Iván Smoka has released ‘Echoes of Black Cats,’ a collection of archival material produced alongside his Gatos Negros bandmate, Christian C. The project lands on his Last Cat On Earth label, which he co-runs with Thaddeus X.
The two tracks, which serve as a historical document of the duo’s creative partnership, were originally recorded between 2010 and 2012 but remained unreleased until now. The recordings have undergone a thorough remixing and remastering process at Pobla Studio to align the production with modern standards while maintaining the integrity of the original sessions.
Characterized by a raw, dark, and atmospheric aesthetic, the release functions as a prelude to the sound that would eventually define the Gatos Negros discography. ‘Echoes of Black Cats’ offers insight into the early collaborative identity of the founding members during their formative years.
