Maceo Plex has released his long-unavailable 2013 remix/edit of Kavinsky’s ‘Nightcall’ as a free download, dedicating it to the legacy of the late French producer following the news of his passing.

Originally created in 2013, the club-focused reinterpretation was intended to give Kavinsky’s classic a different context on the dancefloor while preserving the spirit of the original. Announcing the release, Maceo Plex said he hoped the edit would help keep Kavinsky’s music alive in clubs, adding that he wished to share it freely with DJs around the world.

In his statement, Maceo Plex also extended his condolences to Kavinsky’s family and friends, saying his “heart goes out” to them during this difficult time. He added that he hoped they would support his decision to make the remix available for free, while inviting them to contact him if they preferred it to be taken down.

Originally produced by Kavinsky and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, with mixing by SebastiAn and featuring vocals from Lovefoxxx, ‘Nightcall’ has become one of the defining tracks of modern electronic music. Maceo Plex’s version revisits the original with an extended club-oriented approach while remaining faithful to its atmosphere.
