Desert Hearts have released their ‘California’ EP, signaling a new phase for the Southern California collective.

Out now, the two-track project marks the first time founders Mikey Lion, Marbs, and Lee Reynolds formally unite as a production trio and touring act under the Desert Hearts name. After more than a decade developing the brand as a label, festival, and global community, the release brings their collaborative dynamic into a defined artist format.

Built on their long-standing “Renegades since 2012” ethos, Desert Hearts have consistently operated outside traditional industry models, from self-produced festivals to independent releases. With ‘California’, that approach is translated into a structured studio output, reflecting a workflow shaped organically over years of collaboration.

The release also coincides with a new partnership with EMPIRE, marking a step forward in scale while maintaining the group’s core identity. The EP captures a moment of transition, formalizing a project that has long existed in practice.
