Instagram implements tool to notify that copyright is being infringed

The platform also released new guidelines on the use of music during broadcasts.

Instagram introduced a new pop-up window that alerts users when it is detected that they are using copyrighted music in a live transmission. The latest addition is designed to give streamers a chance to stop or change the music before muting or taking down their stream, although it was not specified how long the user will have to avoid either of these results.

In a post on its website, Instagram says: Updates include making notifications clearer and surfacing notifications earlier to live broadcasters, to give people time to adjust their streams and avoid interruptions if we detect they may be approaching our limitations. And if your video is muted or blocked, we’ll make it clear what actions you can take to stop the interruption’.

The increase in live streams, as clubs around the world remain closed, has prompted the social app to clarify the guidelines and help users who are frustrated with their deleted or muted videos.
