Luciano: ‘Miami Music Week looks very interesting this year’

In the mid-90’s, Luciano was promoting electronic music in the company of many pioneers of the Latin American scene like Senor Coconut, Ricardo Villalobos and Dandy Jack.

Since then, Luciano has gone on to found Cadenza Records and to become one of the leading figures in techno and house music, revolutionizing Ibiza’s nightlife with his Vagabundos and Luciano & Friends parties, and promoting a number of new talents under his wing.

We talked with him ahead of this year’s Miami Music Week.

Electronic Groove: Hi Luciano, thanks for taking the time to chat with us. So far can you tell us what’s this year’s highlight for you?

Luciano: Thanks guys. I’ve been in the studio during the last 6 months, I’m happy to be back… stay tuned for my new productions ?

EG: You are attending the 2017 Miami Music Week, what are your plans this year?

Luciano: Miami looks very interesting this year. I have different meetings related to my upcoming releases. Also, I’ll be playing in a few parties like the one at SLS Hotel South Beach alongside Guy Gerber on Thursday, Richie Hawtin’s Play Differently and HYTE on Friday, and as usual at Story to close the week on Sunday.

EG: You are playing B2B with Loco Dice at HYTE, how this idea to play together came?

Luciano: We did this for many years and we thought this year is a great opportunity to do it again.

EG: You are playing at Play Differently party with Richie Hawtin and friends. Is this new mixer the best in the market? What are your thoughts about this cutting-edge technology piece?

Luciano: Yes, definitely. There is no other mixer giving us the same functions or the great possibilities to work and push further. The different options the mixer offers are the key of this cutting-edge piece.

EG: You just released ‘Animal’ on Martin Buttrich’s ‘Collaborators’ album. How was the related production process as three different artists were involved?

Luciano: Me and Martin are good friends since a long time. We often share ideas and thoughts, it’s a pleasure to work with REAL producers, I think it was a good fusion.

EG: You are part of Hi Ibiza opening party line-up, alongside Black Coffee and Apollonia. What are your expectations about this new club?

Luciano: The Ushuaia group are used to build top and solid concepts. I’m sure the club will offer the best technology on the island as well.

EG: How’s your summer schedule looking like?

Luciano: Looks very busy, I think I’m doing 50 shows in three months, see you soon!
