Way Of Thinking: “Sound is something infinite, it keeps changing”

A veteran of the electronic music scene, Way Of Thinking has been mesmerizing audiences for over 15 years with his unique blend of beats and rhythms. With a wide range of influences and a keen ear for music, he has honed his craft into a unique artist.

At the same time, he is the co-owner of the Sun & Snow Weekend, in charge, among many other things, of elaborating the musical history of the event celebrated every year in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada in Spain every April.

EG caught up to learn more about his recent contribution to our EG SPOTLIGHT mix series,  the release of ‘This Is So Good’, future projects, the Sun & Snow Weekend, and more.

EG: Hi Álvaro! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you based right now?

Way Of Thinking: Thank you, my pleasure! The last months have been great and also intense! But happy to do what I love! At the moment I’m based in my hometown Malaga after five years in Ibiza. This not implying I’m in Málaga too much! Lol. But it has everything I need, a good airport, good weather and, for sure, my family close by.

EG: Congratulations on the release of ‘This Is So Good’, which is already available via Get Physical. What has the initial reception been like? Have you been able to test this one live?

Way Of Thinking: Honestly, Get Physical is a superb label, so it has reached other artists easily. Super team and they work amazingly. I have only good words about the process since I signed it. I’ve been playing it live since the summer of ‘22, but also other artists, like my very supportive friend Yulia Niko.

EG: So, what can your fans expect to find on ‘This Is So Good’? What’s this one all about?

Way Of Thinking: They can expect a mix of house, melodic-techno with an afro touch. I do not like to categorize music and this track proves it. Groove, atypical voices, and an intense drop with unexpected sounds 😉

EG: By the way, thank you for your contribution to our EG Spotlight Mix Series! What can your fans expect to find on this one?

Way Of Thinking: It has been a busy beginning of the year, so I tried to fit in some of the tracks I’ve been playing lately. Also, you will be able to listen to my next track, called ‘Uraleh’, to be released on Redolent this March ‘23. You can play it at home with a tea, chilling, or with your friends and some wine!

EG: After some 16 years on the scene…how would you describe your sound by now? Where is it going?

Way Of Thinking: Special, versatile, pure, and profound, to touch the listeners deeply by always maintaining my own identity. Sometimes my fans tell me I’m special and that’s how I hope I’ll stay 🙂 Sound to me is something infinite, it keeps changing during my travels and experiences, staying in the same spectrum.

EG: You’re also the co-owner of the Sun&Snow Weekend, celebrated every April in the mountains of Sierra Nevada in Spain. How was the festival created?

Way Of Thinking: Very close friends created the event coincidentally while I was leaving the corporate world to focus on my passion and life, music. I joined them as it was the perfect match. From the first moment, they gave me the coordination of the music strategy. We worked hard until today. We are a good team where every department is aligned, we are seeking to get better year after year.

EG: And what can attendees expect this year?

Way Of Thinking: The best combination between vanguard music, sports, snow, and nature. Artists that are also friends which I highly respect. I take very seriously the music progress during the event, so is a great mix in one of the boutique snow festivals in Europe.

EG: Can you tell us something about you that very few people know about?

Way Of Thinking: I went from wearing a suit and a tie to just putting on headphones over 7 years ago changing my desk job conformism for trying to make people smile with my performances at every destination. That feeling is amazing, don’t you think? Not so many people know I used to work in a corporate bank 😵

EG: How do you keep entertained when not in the studio? Have you checked out any good movies, series, books, or albums you’d recommend?

Way Of Thinking: Although I hardly find the time, I’m keen on sports and listening to my vinyl collection with a cold beer. But what I love the most is sharing quality time with family and friends.

If I should recommend a movie it would be ‘I Origin’. Pretty. An album: any by Lost Epcot (aka Orbe) Good and super talented guy. About books… I promise to have more time to read and tell you in the next interview 🫠😮‍💨

EG: What’s next for Way Of Thinking? What particular milestones are you looking forwards to this 2023? Where can your fans catch you next?

Way Of Thinking: Travelling back to play in the US this week. Looking forward to the next release, Sun&Snow, and new tracks in the making, a collab with another artist, and a Summer residency, Boho, Miami, Friday 4th, February, then NY the next day with Unreleased by Arodes, another project I’m involved with. Next months, catch me coming back to Tulum, Canary Islands, Madrid, and of course at The Mountain Call (Sun&Snow Weekend)!

EG: Thank you so much for your time Álvaro! We wish you all the best for the future.

Way Of Thinking: Thank you for having me, such an honor! Much love 🙂
