Label Of The Month: Fall From Grace Records

Flashing lights, bellowing rave sirens, and sweat dripping off the rafters—all unified by the music. Historical beat rhythms juxtaposed with metallic buzzing synth riffs and classical arrangements built within a club sensibility. In the daylight, we shine, but come nightfall, we fall from grace, entering the netherworlds of electronic composition and forward-thinking art pieces.

This is the essence of Fall From Grace Records, a musical collective of passionate writers, session musicians, avant-garde abstract thinkers, poets, and hardcore producers dedicated to breaking new ground in the spirit of creating cutting-edge electronic music.

The label was created in 2015 by Glenn Morrison, a classically trained pianist who became deeply entrenched in electronic music in the late 1990s. Morrison’s thoughtful expression and vision for Fall From Grace have always been centered on releasing consistently intelligent, soulful, and forward-thinking electronic music. The label represents the underground sound within the Alpine label group, alongside Ambient Wave Records, Wolfe Records, and Dying Light Records, each catering to different musical styles.

“Spirited hypnotic techno music and an Italo-disco uplifting synth-wave style has typified our Fall From Grace label sound over the course of 2024,” Morrison explains. “A large majority of our signings lately have been from live electronic musicians. There is so much uniqueness when composing live with little post-production. The rawness of electronic music is something I am always trying to harness and focus on.”

David Morales, an integral part of the label, embodies this forward-thinking approach to club music. With around 80-100 artists currently on Fall From Grace, including notable names such as Dave Seaman, Danny Howells, Bushwacka!, Ewan Pearson, Colin Benders, and Hernan Cattaneo, the label has cultivated a roster of incredible musicians and composers. Morrison expresses his gratitude for being part of the electronic music story as it has unfolded over the past two decades.

Label showcases have become an essential part of Fall From Grace’s efforts to bring their artists together in comfortable musical settings. From Ibiza’s Tuk Tuk Beach Club to a Mediterranean tour in Rhodes, Greece, these showcases highlight the label’s dedication to creating immersive experiences for their artists and fans.

Although Morrison acknowledges the importance of social media in the modern age, his primary focus remains on pushing for great songwriting and composition within the electronic music spectrum.

Fall From Grace’s impressive catalog of music is available in both digital and limited edition vinyl pressings. Morrison emphasizes the importance of tangible releases, reminiscent of the old rave days, and the appreciation of music in a way that feels less disposable than digital formats. The label’s commitment to great artistry extends to its graphic design team in Germany, IMAX for live visuals, and Sony for third-party licensing and sync. “Teamwork makes the dream work,” he states, expressing Fall From Grace’s 360º vision.

As Fall From Grace continues to evolve, Glenn Morrison remains on the lookout for new and exciting musicians and artists to sign. The label’s principle goal is to create art that resonates globally, and  Morrison is confident that their meticulous record releases and their complete approach will cement Fall From Grace’s place in electronic dance music history as a safe haven for modern and future dancefloors.
