Robosonic shares 10 tracks of Golden Era house

To date, Cord Labuhn’s longest-running project is Robosonic, which was originally formed as a DJ-producer duo together with Sacha Robotti more than 10 years ago. Over the course of time, it became Cord’s solo moniker in the dance music game since his former partner had emigrated to the US for a fresh personal start.

The house & techno driven sets and records under the R°° flag are internationally recognized and performances in 45+ countries (and counting) reflect the universal appeal of a trademark sound Robosonic unleashed into the world. Cord’s artful hybrids and organic blends, zone effortlessly between subversive underground culture, the high-heel house and hippie hoppie heaven. Must be the constant creative struggle, the universal love and a cartoonish crack up behind all his work, which resonates.

Robosonic just released his latest single entitled ‘Ghetto’ done in collaboration with Big Shug. For the special occasion he has selected 10 tracks of Golden Era house.

1. Robosonic & EPMD – For The People

“My collaboration with Long Island rap stars EPMD. I have had them in my vinyl collection for about 20 years. Met the guys in the studio in Berlin and we recorded a Golden Era House classic – out on Armada Subjekt including remixes of Sonny Fodera & Illyus & Barrientos“.

2. PAWSA – Old Skooly

“I love his techy minimalistic production style, dig this old skool homage”.

3. Joeski – Hey Fellas

“‘It Takes Two’ from Rob Base was my jam from childhood. Joeski added some other juice to it…”

4. Robosonic, Psycho Les of the Beatnuts & Greg Nice – Block Party Theme

“The first Robosonic release on my own imprint Outtakes Records, with old school pioneer Greg Nice (of Nice & Smooth) and Psycho Les of The Beatnuts. Transatlantic block party vibe”.

5. Dave + Sam featuring Mike Dunn – Til The World Blow Up (Mike Dunn BlackBall Classic Soul MixX)

“Chicago doing it, Mike Dunn killing it”.

6. DJ Mes & Rescue – Bring It Back

“Got that golden feel to it. The good old days, you know the story, but with a funky twist”.

7. Dombresky – Soul Sacrifice

De La Soul is definitely on my collaboration wishlist. Shouts to Dombresky how he made this work so well”.

8. Torren Foot – More Life (Mat.Joe Remix)

“Sounds familiar? My next collaboration with Mat.Joe is planned for Sonny Fodera’s imprint Solokoto by the way…”

9. Kevin Over – Hood Funk

“That’s something I loved to play around 2012, keeping it real”.

10. Robosonic & Masta Ace – Good Old Feel

“It’s the good old feel, you know, that’s the deal. I paid dues to one of the greatest eastcoast rap lyricists, and he paid me a visit on this track. It was first released as an extended dub on OFF Recordings around 2014 and was now put out as a short rap version through my label Outtakes“.
