Leeds-born dubstep producer Rusko, real name Christopher Mercer, has announced an indefinite hiatus after more than two decades of touring.

In a statement shared on July 17th, the producer said it had become clear that he was “having a breakdown mentally” and needed to step away from his career.

“For now, I have to follow my instincts and search for healing and recovery,” he wrote. “While I can’t guarantee any kind of return, I hope in my heart, one day this is not goodbye, but more ‘see ya later, alligator.'”

Rusko did not confirm whether or when he may return to music. For now, the producer will focus on his health and recovery away from touring and professional commitments.
