Shaun Roberts, beloved fabric promoter, has died

Following a three-year bout with cancer.

Iconic UK electronic music promoter Shaun Roberts has died. Roberts, who was best known for his 16-year stint at London’s fabric, Roberts passed away on Christmas Eve. fabric shared a touching tribute on social media yesterday, December 27th.

“You were the dearest friend to us, a cherished fabric family member, professional raver, passionate music lover, full of strength, determination and so much more. We love you very much and you will always be a source of inspiration,” read the post. “You paved the way for so many artists that are now at the top of their game and helped shape fabric into the club it is today. We are all so grateful.”

Roberts was part of the fabric team from the beginning and rapidly became promotions assistant under Steve Blonde, the mastermind behind fabric’s Friday flagship event, FABRICLIVE. Then, in 2006, Roberts took the reigns over from Blonde as promotions manager, working in that position over the next decade.

Roberts eventually left fabric back in January 2016. Five years later, following his cancer diagnosis, fabric hosted a fundraiser with The Chemical Brothers, Andy C, and many others.
